the baby is here!

after several days of contractions, friday was go day. hubby got me breakfast kolaches and we waited and timed...and waited and timed....then got lunch...then i vaccuumed...then wow! my contractions got painful...i said let's go now! and we went. well, i was at a 4, then went to a 7 very quickly..very painfully..no epidural, the dr wanted to do blood work. well, the baby was having heart de-cells wich means he was having lowered heart beats everytime i had a contraction wich means less or no oxygen. well, my dr decides to break my water. my contractions are like 1 min apart and extremely painful, still no epidural. i am freaking out about natural chilbirth...have no intention of doing it what-so-ever!! well, dr decides that she is going to get ready for emergency c-section because baby's decells are getting worse, dr is worried about brain damage. hubby is calm and tells me he cannot be there with me (i don't have my beloved epidural so they now have to put me under general anaesthesia witch means i will be totally out. well, i start crying and hubby gets teary as well. dr rushes me out to operating room. she knows hubby is dr and tells the staff to let him wait outside the o.r. i go in and the start setting up for surgery. dr starts injecting me with lydecaine, a local, and then piches me, well i let her know i can feel that. she waits a few more secs, then pinches again, and again, "i can feel that" i'm freaking out a little cause i have never had surgery before and now i am going thru it alone....so the anaestesiologist comes over to me and pushes the knock out drugs...i remember thinking "why am i not asleep yet" he says, "ok, cut her"...(slow motion) my brain registers what he said, my dr cuts me open, i am NOT asleep, i SCREAM as she slices open my lower half, then i am out for the count.

i now know what it feels like to be stabbed, and i don't reccommend it! well, two and a half hours later i wake up and my little boy is fine and dandy. no problems. ryan is right there and i get to hold andrew right away...well, hold isn't exactly what i would call it...he was laid on me and i got to cuddle with him (as i am flat on my back and still somewhat foggy). i only got to see him for a few mins as they needed to watch him breathe and make sure he was ok for sure.

c-sections are not fun, even if you don't feel anything. well, fast forward to today. andrew is great...he eats like a champ and so far i am keeping up with him. i am currently getting anywhere from 3-4 hours of sleep a night, and not all at once, heehee. nate is fascinated by drew and loves to touch him and look at him and hold him. it is very sweet and makes ryan extremely nervous. i am healed up for the most part. recovery was very easy for me...i am doing all my normal things, like picking up heavy toddlers and such. i was only on pain meds for a week...i found out in the hospital that i don't like vicadin...makes me light headed and not in a good way.

nathan is pretty much potty trained at this point. we finally have him going poo on the potty instead of in his pull-up. he is currently wearing scooby-doo undies and hasn't had an accident yet. i'm sure he will, but so far so good! we bought him a bike today for his birthday. hubby is taking him out in a bit for a lesson. it has training wheels, so it won't be hard for him to ride it. it is very odd for a child to finish potty training instead of regressing due to the arrival of his little brother...but nate has always not followed the pack in regards to most things like that.

well, hubby goes back to work tomorrow, after three weeks off and he is sad...he wants to start working on winning the lottery, heehee, my new part-time job!

later!

fever and contractions

nate has fever....yeah! and i am having braxton-hicks contractions like crazy...my body is getting ready for birth!! nate apparently has a cold or upper respiratory infection...and it comes along with a high fever...he likes fevers, i think. he has been hovering around 101, going as high as his favorite temp of 104~ always after sleeping~ his little body just likes to be hot i guess. of course the pedi says the same...virus, just wait it out. duh! at least it isn't strep.

i, on the other hand, have been having long periods of contractions, for like 8 hours at a time. if i didn't have hubby to check, i would have gone to the hospital last night...they were 3 and 4 mins apart, but they weren't painful, just annoying and my stomach was tight. so i spent the evening on the recliner, then the couch and a good bit on the potty because hubby was making me drink water by the gallon (apparently, if you are dehydrated, you will have contractions, but c'mon, i mean i was peeing every 15 mins!) so...i finally stopped contracting around 10-1030 last night. i have been having some today, hit and miss. i suppose tonight will be a repeat of the last two nights...contractions for many hours, then nothing. i only worry about it because we have nate's bday party on saturday and i want him to go...i can stay home if i have the baby...but i want him to have his day o' fun. he is looking forward to it....when we mailed out invites last week he thought we were having his party right then! then he wanted his mail back, and i had to explain that to him...which i am sure he didn't get, but at least i tried!

that's all for now, nothing to much to tell. got some black bean soup in the crock pot (yes, from dried beans, way way cheaper) and will be making some corn bread after we go to the park. he actually helps me make cornbread, but has a hard time stirring, or paying attention, or not trying to stick his hand in the batter, but he does have a fun time "helping" and mostly watching. tommorrow is more soup, and friday will be beef stroganoff using frozen hamburger meat. yesterday was salad and baked potatoes, monday was spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. yum! i have not spent to much on groceries this week either, around 80, but some of that is snacks and some for next week or later. been trying to keep my groceries under some sort of control! oh, and the new recipe i tried is great...its a sauce of 1/2 cup bbq sauce and 3 TBS of soy sauce...i used it over sliced cooked steak and sauteed bell peppers and rice, it was great...not bbq-ey and not asian either, a good mix of both. i can see using this over chicken and pork too.

i am off to cvs tonight to spend my bux before the expire...wish me luck! it always takes awhile....

cheers!

grated soap

yep folks....i make my own laundry detergent...that is why i was grating soap. it works great and is super concentrated...it lasts a long time, as long as hubby doesn't do laundy (he always goes overboard with the soap and color safe bleach) it's only 3 ingredients and you only need like 1-2 tablespoons per load. the recipe:

2cups borax

2cups washing soda (arm&hammer)

2 cups grated soap (i used ivory, but fals naptha and zote are recommended too)

mix and use....(you can find these ingredients in the detergent isle at wal-mart)

you can also use = parts borax and washing soda to clean your dishes in the dishwasher...oh and forget jet dry, just use some white vinegar. coooool, huh?

the internet is an amazing thing...you can find so much information it is unreal.

by the way, i don't know if this is neccesarily cheaper than the detergent i get from sam's club, but i do like it because i know it is better for the earth, i can make it in about 2 mins, and i smells like whatever soap i want to use. plus, i can add in knock-off oxy clean or color safe bleach (from the dollar store) and have a super powerful detergent...coool....and i can make it anytime i want!!!

nothing special

sooooo, went to wal-mart, again...since i now have a super wal-mart literally around the corner, i go on a regular basis...not spending lots of money each time, just keep forgetting to get the original thing i was supposed to get in the first place! pregnancy fog....

this morning nate told me he was pooping and we ran to the potty and he went...this was a first!! daddy gave him big kisses and high 10s and he even got a few marshmallows...it was 8 in the morning, but who cares!! we are on our way to having this one out of dipes!!

do you ever wish you could record your kiddo? yesterday i was grating some bar soap and nate was very interested...he wanted to watch and touch, well i let him touch the grated up soap, it looks pretty cool, and he said "that's wonderful". how cute is that? i wish i had a tape recorder, or is the pc thing now to say i wish i had a digital recorder (or something like that!)

washed up all of nate's baby clothes last night and finished up today. i have forgotten how tiny those newborn dipes are! they look like they are made for a childs' doll and not for an actual child! nate keeps asking if they are his clothes and i tell him they used to be but now they are for the baby cause they are small...nathan then replies "i a big boy, i not a baby" we did the same thing for his crib. as soon as we got his racecar bed in his room, we started calling the crib the "baby's bed" and he totally got it and doesn't miss it or anything. of course, when i was getting out all of the new crib bedding and such, nathan wanted in the crib and then wanted to be covered up, then wanted out, then wanted back in...it was pretty funny.

well, after months of not having one...i finally bought a wedding ring...yep, i lost my wedding ring in november, and not being much of a jewelry wearer, have gone without. lately, i am starting to feel stupid walking around with a huge (huge!!) belly and a toddler and no ring...so i got a silver band at wal-mart (my new favorite place to hang out) and i am happy with it. i assume my other ring is down the drain and in the sewer somewhere...we will never know. maybe when we move we will find it, but i have lost all hope of ever seeing it again. oh, well, it's only a ring and is easily replaced. my next ring will be a cz or something so that if (when) i lose that one we will only be out a few hundred instead of a few thousand! oh...funny thing is our wedding aniversary is my baby's due date...april 28! do we know how to plan or what!! we will be married 8 years...man does time fly.

so, nothing special to report today..off to the park with the kiddo and then back home to try a new recipe from the kraft magazine i get in the mail. will report on how good, or not good it is tomorrow. peace...
