Welcome to my business. Some of you may be coming from my old blog, www.homeschoolblogger.com/homeskool, and some of you may have found me for the first time. Either way, welcome, and allow me to share with you a little bit about what I am doing. But, before I do, I want to assure all 3 of my readers who came over from my old blog that this new blog will be in the same format as the old. I will share some of my thoughts, observations, struggles, ideas, and weird things I find. I will occassionally talk about my business (like today), but that won't necessarily be the main topic. However, today I want to tell you a little bit about what I am doing, and why

I have had a dream for quite some time that I would be able to come home, work from home and build a business that my sons could inherit to be able to provide for their families. However, nothing came. I tossed around several ideas, but still nothing came. Our family prayed about it, and had some wonderful ideas again, but nothing came. I wanted to start a business and be debt free as it grew. I also wanted to start a business that would help people, especially fathers pass on a heritage or a legacy to their children.

In the meantime, we have been trying to simplify our lives, and one of the ways we were trying to do that was to convert many of our old VHS tapes, and cassette tapes to DVD and CD. So, I bought some software and began to do it (It wasn't a cheap investment, but we decided the simpler life would be worth it). As I learned the programs, and really enjoyed doing it, I began to tell other people about it. It wasn't long until I realized that this could be the business. I began to pray about it, think about it and try to determnine what God would have me do. That's when I came up with the idea of Heritage Media.

You see, my business has 7 parts. Some of them are up and running, some of them, Lord willing, will be soon.

First is pre-recorded media. I can take your old media, whether it is sound media or video and convert it to something permanent. Old magnetic media like VHS and cassettes get old and deteriorate. Plus, as we are moving more digital, buying a cassette player is getting harder, as is buying a VCR. So, may families are left with a choice of buying movies they enjoy as DVD, or losing them. I can copy them, typically, for less than you can go buy a new one at Wal-Mart.

Second is one of a kind media. Old wedding videos, family vacation videos, Super 8 reels, recordings of Grandma, who has now passed, are all extremely valuable to the people who own them, and, as I said, magnetic media deteriorates quickly. I can copy those old, valuable, priceless keepsakes to something you can keep forever.

Editing. I can edit those old recordings and significantly improve the sound, and somtimes the picture quality of old movies

Digital keepsake albums. I can take your pictures and create a digital CD keepsake that will allow you to look at those pictures over and over again. We can even put music in the background. This is a perfect way to preserve weddings, graduations, vacations, or other special memories. It is also a wonderful way to put together a memory picture CD for special events such as graduation, weddings, and even funerals

Preserving pictures. Do you have shoeboxes full of old photographs that are simply fading and deteriorating? Let me, inexpensively, transfer them all to digital files and put them on a CD or DVD so you can have access to them anytime you want

Preserving documents. What if there was a fire? Would you lose all your copies of your birth ceritficates, Marriage certificates, special letters, etc. I can convert them them to a digital format, put it on a CD and you can keep it and have access to those important documents, even if something happens to your home.

Heritage DVD. This isn't ready yet, but I want to be able to help you record a CD or DVD of things you want to pass on to your children that can be given to them either now, or when you pass away. As I said, I am working on this and more details will be available later.

Well, that's it in a nutshell. Take a look around, let me know what you think, and if I can serve you or give you a quote, let me know that too. One of my goals is to make things as inexpensive, as possible. I can't do the fancy things that a large studio can, but I also don't charge what a large studio would. I am affordable for the average person who simply wants to pass on their legacy to future generations.

Now, back to the regular blog.....

Some of you may be reading me for the first time, and a couple of you may be coming over from my other blog. So, who am I and what am I doing here. Well, first I am a Christian, second I am a family man. As you will see in this blog, I have some very strong and passionate feelings about what it means to be a Godly man, father and husband, and this is where I will chronicle some of those thoughts and opinions.

I am also a homeschool dad, and a homeschool graduate. I also feel passionate about this, and you will often find me talking about how homeschooling, Godliness and family all work together. You will sometimes agree, you may disagree (Who knows, since this is my opinion and my thoughts, I may not even always agree with myself). You may just take some of the things I say and think about them. Even better, you may take some of the things I say and search your Bible to see if what I am saying is right. If the last 2 things happen, then I have succeeded with this blog.

Please, please, please feel free to comment, however, I would ask that you honor God with your comments. I would respectfully ask that there be no gossip, no slander and no evil speaking that is so common on blogs today. I would also ask that is you disagree with me, and that is perfectly ok, that you do it respectfully and never use hateful language or a mean spirit. Most importantly, let's discuss things in Christian love.
