Along with 100's of thousands of other pilgrims our little band is waiting patiently at Sydney airport to board their flight. The flight was scheduled to leave about 2pm their time...and has been delayed until 6pm. They are taking it all in stride and making the best of everything..no doubt shopping the airport shops! They found it nearly impossible to find internet cafes and have relied on international cell phones...no rollover minutes from there!!!

WYD got into full swing today with an open air Mass celebrated by Cardinal Pell of Australia. The Mass included several languages and the Gospel was proclaimed in Polish...Yeah Father Josef!! The pilgrims have had a few things lost..a camera & a cell phone. When encountering huge crowds they devised a plan so that they DON'T loose any pilgrims... they put Erin in front ( she has boney elbows) and they all line up behind her holding the backpack in front and away they go!

The pilgrims arrived safely in Melbourne at about 6:30pm (our time) on Thursday evening...There it was 8:30 am Friday. They were bused to a school and picked up by their host families. They went to Holy Mass in Melbourne with approx. 29,000 other pilgrims in a stadium there. They have gone sightseeing around Melbourne and are spending time with their host families. It is cold..the coldest day this winter for Melbourne..about 50 degrees F in the daytime. It is windy so it feels colder but our hardy pilgrims from Western New York have "no worries" about it they are having a great time!!!
