An actor’s involvement in a film is limited to his role, unless, of course, he happens to be the producer of the film in question. But Shahid Kapoor is going that extra mile to ensure that JAB WE MET is projected rightly and gets the right release.

Even though his job doesn’t demand him to look into the nitty-gritties of pre-release promotions and release strategy, Shahid had a meeting with Studio 18’s Aman Gill and Gayatri a few days ago. The release plans -- in India and Overseas -- were discussed.

“I am very happy with the film and I truly believe it’s my best film yet,” Shahid tells me. Shahid Kapur returned to Mumbai after a long shoot in Canada (with his smile intact!)

Shahid Kapur arrived in Mumbai late on Saturday night, over a month after shooting for Aziz Mirza’s film in Toronto, Canada.

We spotted the actor walking out of Sahar airport looking extremely cool, flashing a smile and even posing for photos with fans.

We have to say there appeared to be no trace of unhappiness over his break-up with Kareena Kapoor on his beaming visage.

He was met by his friends (which didn’t include Kareena), and after posing with groups of onlookers for photographs, Shahid took to the wheel and drove off homewards.

Tomorrow, Shahid shoots with Kareena at Future Studios, Goregaon for some patchwork scenes of Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met.

This is the first time the couple will come face-to face since Kareena’s escapades with her current ‘good friend’ Saif Ali Khan. Will both their scenes be shot separately? Our guess is the latter.

MUMBAI: PVR which started its film production plans with Aamir Khan has now roped in Director Rajkumar Santoshi. The deal will be to jointly produce two movies. One will be Ashoka starring Ajay Devgan in the title role and an untitled movie starring Shahid Kapur and Katrina Kaif.

Confirming the development to businessofcinema.com , PVR Films Cell, CEO, Ashish Saksena says, "We are in final stages of negotiations with Rajkumar Santoshi. It is a little early in the day to give out any details."

If sources are to be believed these two films will together be made on a budget of Rs 60 crore, with Ajay Devgan starrer Ashoka obviously being the bigger budgeted film.

Shedding more light on the films, Santoshi says, "Yes I will be co-producing these movies with PVR. The Shahid-Katrina starrer will go on floors in Mumbai by November this year and Ashoka will be shot mid next year."
