      <description><![CDATA[<font class="text3">"The superior man makes the difficulty to be overcome his first interest; success only comes later." <br><br><br>Okay...Confucius' phrasing was a bit sexist, but he lived 2,500 years ago, so I'll get past that.</font><font class="text3">&nbsp;&nbsp; Maybe women of that time had no difficulties to overcome, so they didn't need the advice.&nbsp; We can hope, at least.&nbsp; Moving along....this ancient wisdom speaks volumes to me as a 21st century woman, particularly one tackling a longstanding weight problem.<br><br>So often over the course of my lifetime, I have focused on outcomes, instead of behavior.&nbsp; Without exception, this flawed thinking has derailed me.<br><br>Take last year, as an example.&nbsp; For several months, I took on a different behavior I wanted to change each month.&nbsp; After a while, momentum built up and I was able to execute the thing which is hardest for me: portion control.&nbsp; Consequently, weight came off at a gradual steady pace.&nbsp; I was delighted with the success, but eventually got off my game.&nbsp; The number on the scale started to be my only focus, and I found myself sliding back into old habits.&nbsp; The net result was regaining almost half of the 60 pounds I had lost.<br><br>Now I am trying to regain the proper focus.&nbsp; I feel it coming back ever so gradually.&nbsp; Check out one of my favorite blogs for some simple tips for weight loss.&nbsp; It's written by a guy who's taken that gradual behavior-focused approach to tackle a variety of habits he wanted to change.&nbsp; Very inspiring.&nbsp; Check our his advice on weight loss.&nbsp; Here's the link: </font><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br></span><a href="http://zenhabits.net/2007/09/simple-things-you-can-do-to-lose-weight/">http://zenhabits.net/2007/09/simple-things-you-can-do-to-lose-weight/</a><br><a href="www.zenhabits.net"> </a>]]></description>
