The 22-year-old Miss Venezuela overpowered Taliana Vargas of Colombia, who won 1st runner-up. She has been a crowd favorite earlier at the pageant. She is into interior design and learning new languages.

The second, third and fourth runners-up were contestants from Dominican Republic, Russia and Mexico, respectively.

"Actually, God made men and women different. But the big difference between women and men--it doesn't matter what kind of life they live--is that men think that the faster way to go to a point is to go straight. Women, no. The faster way to go to a point is to go through curves and fixing every curve," Miss Venezuela answered international judge Louis Lacari that made her win the crown.

She wore a beautiful yellow night gown when given the 18K white and yellow gold crown, which was valued at $120,000. She is the 57th Miss Universe.

The crown was given to her by successor Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori of Japan.

Earlier, the Miss Congeniality category was awarded to Rebeca Moreno of El Salvador and the Best National Costume award was handed to Miss Thailand Gavintra Photijak.

In Cebu, officers and staff of NSO-Regional and Provincial Offices form part of the Action Center located at the Abellana Grounds, Cebu City Sports Complex. Civil registry documents (birth and marriage certificates) are being issued free of charge for those have referrals from the City Social Welfare Officer and/or the Public Attorney�s Office (PAO).

At the National Capital Region, relatives of victims of M/V Princess of the Stars, who have the necessary referrals from PAO shall likewise be issued copies of relevant civil registry documents at no cost. NSO Help Desk in Metro Manila is located at the Office of the Director, Civil Registration Department, 3/F Vibal Building, EDSA corner Times Street, Quezon City.
