Stage6 has shut down, meaning that all my videos on the Backyard Circus page have stopped working . I'll edit it later and re-add the videos, but not right now. Oh, and also I uploaded the Absolutely Perfectly Harmless Companion Cube video to Google Video, since Stage6 wouldn't take it (and now I know why).

Here it is...

Stalker

The Stalker video is finally done. It didn't turn out how I expected it to and I also used it as an experiment to test Demo Smoother (which you probably have no idea what I'm talking about but I'm not going to explain it. It basically is just another tool to edit the .dem file which I talked about in my first post). Anyway, watch below or on the home page

Machinima.com is having a contest for all students, the Ivy Film Festival Machinima Competition. You can enter any film you've made when you were a student and the grand prize is $250. I want to enter Stalker but I haven't completed it yet. So I entered Paranoia, which was based on TetaBonita's
Absolutely Perfectly Harmless Companion Cube which, if you haven't played Portal, you wouldn't understand the inside joke. I'll put a copy on the Backyard Circus Page as soon as Stage6 decides to cooperate. I'm hoping to also finish Stalker in time. The contest ends on March 16, meaning I have 22 days to finish. Shouldn't be too hard

New Video

I've been wanting to make a video using GMod for a while now. I started working on one a while ago and the results have been amusing. The only thing that is hard about the whole process is that when you capture the video using the built in "Source Recorder" it saves it as a .dem file. This is a problem since only the source engine can use/understand this. So then you have to go back to the game you captured it in, open the console, type sv_cheats 1, host_framerate 30, playdemo <demo name="">, wait for the "demo" (the video) to load up, then finally type startmovie <movie name="">. Then it takes about 30 minutes, if the original video was about 5-10, to convert every frame into a .tgf image. This takes up about 50 gigs of hard drive space sometimes and you can't just leave and go do something else. Once it is done recording you have to type endmovie or else it will continue to capture the main menu until your hard drive is completely filled and the game crashes.
You then have to go into Premiere and import all these images as a video (which isn't very hard, just click on numbered stills and it combines all the images) and add the audio to them. Then render and export (another 30-60 min.) and then you have a file you can work with.
So where it sits now, I have a bunch of .dem files that need to be converted. But I put a halt to my original video and am now working on a music video for the instrumental version of the song Stalker, by The Pillows. If you don't know who they are, watch FLCL. The entire music track for the anime is by them.
I'm hoping to get it done before Christmas. I've been converting the .dem files while I've been studying for finals. Will probably post some news on the status of the video soon.
</movie></demo>
