• Admin without Direct Access to File>Manage>Accounts.  The creation of a new user and the change of a user password is done without the need for full access to File>Manage>Accounts.
  

• Level of Access By Number.  The standard access levels are 10 (Others), 20 (Warehouse), 30 (Sales), 40 (Cashier), 50 (Purchasing), 60 (Manager), 70 (Executive), 75 (Super User), 80 (Administrator), and 90 (Developer). 
  

• Access By Checkbox.  Access to various scripts, fields, and layouts can also be set by selecting a specific checkbox in the user access profile.
  

• Synchronization.  An administrator or user with the correct access level settings can make changes to the user access profile on their copy of BFMP and when synchronization is performed, this information updates the remote server and remote PCs.

• Server Authentication Not Used.  Since BFMP was designed to work in environments in which access to the internet may not always be available, access to BFMP is not done using server authentication.

The creation of data is the responsibility of the end user. “Data” includes customer contact lists, price lists, product descriptions, pricing levels, document policies, etc. This data is imported into BFMP via Excel spreadsheets. Import scripts have been developed to assist in this process via Filemaker’s import utility, so the BFMP administrator can perform this process easily for much of the data.

Location Logos:

Each location needs to be assigned logos that are used on sales and purchasing documents (e.g. like a letterhead) and catalogs. The logo is typically created in PhotoShop, GIMP, or Paint.Net and saved in JPG, BMP, or PNP format.

Synchronization Set Up:

The synchronization between multiple PCs and a server requires the installation of the Filemaker Pro Server software (if not already installed) on your server or the use of a service that hosts Filemaker databases. BFMP on the remote PCs must then be configured to point to the host server. The synchronization set up process typically requires a person that has a working knowledge of Filemaker.

If you would like us to install Filemaker, SmartPill PHP and ZippScript, the cost is $75 per non-server PC (e.g. end user’s PC). The customer is required to provide the licenses for this software. The installation is done remotely and requires that the customer install easy to set up remote support software prior to the installation of the rest of the software.

Minor layout changes can many times be accomplished from within the standard version of Filemaker Pro 9.0

Adding additional languages is a 2-step process. First, fields in a text label language table must be populated with the word in the new language. Second, scripts that contain custom dialogs or messages must be updated in the new language.

If adding more than a 3rd language to BFMP, an additional layout and script will need to be created to support the selection of these additional languages (Filemaker 9.0 currently has a limitation of 3 options in a custom dialog).

• While Filemaker, and therefore BFMP, have some limited standard integration with email clients such as Outlook Express, Filemaker and BFMP cannot fully integrate with external email, calendaring and contact management software without additional customization and the use of other commercially available 3rd party plug ins for Filemaker.
  
  
• The product layout page is initially created with 9 location groups, each having 10 locations.  Customization to this layout is required to add additional locations and/or location groups.  More development in this are may also be added at a future date.
  
  
• BFMP does not currently have a transaction log to support  the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and there is no short-term intention to provide this functionality.
